Sometimes it takes a Cowboy

As a third generation cowboy, I know what it means to be from South Eastern Colorado. Times were tough back then and are about the same now, which is why I as your Representative am determined to protecting every American’s right to life, liberty and property.

After being married to my beautiful wife Jan for over 40 years, and as a father of four and a foster parent to numerous children, I hold on to that Jeffersonian belief in the local family farmer and rancher and am committed to developing responsible policies that protect the interests of Colorado’s residents.

After teaching high school math and science for many years, I believe in improving the quality of education while maintaining local authority and increasing teacher’s ability to teach. As a parent and a husband I understand the importance of accessible and affordable health care coverage for all residents.

After chairing the committee and serving as the Grand Jury Foreman which indicted corporate employees of Rocky Flats for horrific crimes against the environment, it became even more obvious to me that power can and should rest within the hands of the people. I stuck it out then, and I will continue to stay committed to fighting for what is right and for what the people of Colorado deserve—honesty and justice.

As a native to my district, I also understand the unique issues which face this area of Colorado. Transportation dollars, water rights and small business growth are issues that I not only support but have a personal stake in which is why they continue to be at the forefront of the legislation I pursue.

I believe in and intend to provide a responsive government that represents all constituents, and I am dedicated to improving the bonds of community while protecting individual property rights and encouraging civic responsibility.

I believe in the people that make up this great state and am passionate about working to represent justice and equality for all. I hold on to the belief that no horse is impossible to ride, and will continue to work and to do all I can to make sure that the people of Colorado are represented accurately, effectively and efficiently.
