On February 28, 2008 the Senate requested a conference committee between the House and Senate.

This bill is definitely one of my most important bills down at the Legislature this year. It concerns the withdrawal by the state of its consent to the acquisition of lands within the state by the United States Government. If passed in its current form, the bill would lessen the Federal Governments Power of eminent domain. It would also require that the Federal Government receive consent from States prior to seizure of land or construction of government offices.
This bill was originally introduced on January 17, 2008 and was assigned to the State, Veterans, & Military Affairs Committee. On March 6, 2008 the bill passed committee
I am sponsoring this bill with Senator Shaffer. If passed in its present form, this bill will allow cities and counties with populations greater than 50,000 to enter into intergovernmental agreement with a law enforcement agency of another state for the performance of law enforcement duties.
This law is particurally providing for extra law enforcement during the month of August when the Democratic National Convention takes place in Denver.
The bill was introduced to the House on February 27, 2008 and was assigned to the committee on Local Government. On March 11 the committee passed the bill unamended and it has been returned to the House for a second reading.
On March 17 the bill passed the house with unanimous support on both sides for third reading and final passage, and is now being introduced to the Senate.
